<p>How did the Jewish religion shape life, traditions, and identity of Yiddish-speaking Jews? How is this reflected in Yiddish literature? And how do these legacies continue to live on among Jews in Sweden and elsewhere today?</p><p>This course takes you into the world of religious beliefs, ritual practices, and cultural expressions that shaped Jewish life in Eastern and Central Europe. By exploring these historical roots, you also gain insight into a better and more complete understanding of Yiddish literature. You also see how the same traditions continue to influence and give meaning to Jewish identity in Sweden and elsewhere today.</p>
