Industrial combustion that uses fuels to produce steam, heat, and later power has been essential for our society's technological development for more than two centuries. In recent decades, developments were mostly towards improving energy efficiency, increasing flexibility, and, most importantly, minimizing emissions and environmental impacts. If you like to learn about industrial combustion's role in the present-day and the future, this course is for you. The course will provide you with essential knowledge regarding fuels and fuel properties and how they can be determined. The course further focuses on combustion fundamentals, the formation of emissions, combustion equipment, emission reduction, flue gas cleaning, and potential impacts on health, environment, and climate. An important part of the course is dedicated to practical laboratory tasks where students measure fuel properties and evaluate an industrial boiler's performance and environmental impact.

7,5 credits from the course Introduction to energy technology or 1,5 credits from thermodynamics or equivalent. Â
Each offering has its own dates and conditions. Closed offerings are retained as history and do not mean that a new application is open.
