Additive manufacturing is a game changer in modern industry, and the demand for talented specialists in this area is rapidly increasing in both industry and academia. This course package offers a thematic year on additive manufacturing with a specific focus on powder bed fusion technologies, the most widely used technology in both industry and research. Various areas of knowledge, such as manufacturing technology, and material science, and design are integrated into the package to provide a comprehensive understanding of the possibilities and limitations of additive manufacturing. The package is concluded with a project course that is conducted collaboratively, preferably, with a company. The course package consists of the following courses: Additive Manufacturing in Metal, 7.5 credits, Materials for Additive Manufacturing, 7.5 credits, Design for Additive Manufacturing - DfAM, 7.5 credits and Project Course Additive Manufacturing, 7.5 credits.

Entry requirements

Previous studies of at least 150 credits (ECTS), of which at least 90 credits (ECTS) completed courses in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Production Engineering, Engineering Physics or equivalent. At least 5 credits (ECTS) in each of Materials Science, Mechanics, Structural Mechanics and at least 15 credits (ECTS) in Mathematics. Proven language proficiency in English: English course 6 or English level 2 from Swedish Upper Secondary School (Gymnasium) or equivalent.
