The course considers real manifolds, both with and without boundary. One of the most important tools within differential geometry is the partition of unity, which is used frequently to glue local properties to global ones. The course treats important concepts such as immersions, submersions, vector bundles, differential forms and integration on manifolds. One of the highlights is Stoke’s Theorem.

Entry requirements

Mathematics BA, 60 credits, of which at least 15 credits at BA (C) level.
