This course deals with music and music-making as an individual, social and interpersonal phenomenon. It enhances students' understanding of scientific research on the relationship between music and human beings from music philosophical, music psychological, music sociological and ethnomusicological perspectives. The course also addresses key concepts, reasoning and models that have helped to develop insights into how music consciously and unconsciously works in connection with different people. During the course students will also study the theoretical orientations and the structure of argumentation in course literature.

Entry requirements

A first-cycle qualification comprising at least 180 credits of which at least 90 credits correspond to specialised study in either the humanities or social sciences. The applicant must also have qualifications corresponding to the course "English 6" or "English level 2" from the Swedish Upper Secondary School.
