The course covers 1) classification and identification of igneous rocks, 2)genesis of igneous rocks, 3) phase diagrams in igneous petrology, and 4) melting and crystallization. The course has an open start and you can read the course at your own pace. Re-exams may be held on campus.

Entry requirements

Access to the course requires knowledge equivalent to 60 credits in geology or earth sciences, where the courses Tellus I, 30 credits (GG2003) and Tellus II, 22.5 credits (GG4033) alternatively Geology, 30 credits (GG2006) are included, as well as 7.5 credits mineralogy (GG4002/GG4016/GG4029/GG4037/GG4141).
