The coarse addresses marine geological mapping with geophysical methods and sediment sampling. The course includes theories on the geophysical mapping methods applied, a field mapping component, geophysical data post-processing and geological interpretation. There is a specific focus on mapping of the unconsolidated seafloor sediments and bottom topography using acoustic methods including single and multibeam echosounders and side-scan sonar.
Access to the course requires knowledge equivalent to Geological sciences 15 credits (GG2010) or the courses Tellus I - Geology, 15 credits (GG2008), Tellus II - Geology, 12.5 credits (GG4039), Tellus III - Geology, 2.5 credits (GG4042).As well as courses corresponding to Sedimentary systems 7.5 credits (GG4070), Mathematics for Natural Scientists 15 credits (MM200¤) and Basic physics/geophysics 15 credits.
Each offering has its own dates and conditions. Closed offerings are retained as history and do not mean that a new application is open.
