The course covers 1) classification and identification of metamorphic rocks, 2)genesis of metamorphic rocks, 3) deformation, 4) chemical transport in metamorphic systems, and 5) how metamorphic petrology can be used as a tool to further our understanding of plate tectonic processes. The course has an open start and you can read the course at your own pace. Re-exams may be held on campus.
Access to the course requires knowledge equivalent to 60 credits in geology or geoscience, where the courses Tellus I, 30 credits (GG2003) and Tellus II, 22.5 credits (GG4033) alternatively Geology, 30 credits (GG2006) are included, as well as 7.5 credits mineralogy (GG4002/GG4016/GG4029/GG4037/GG4141).
