Kursen ger baskunskaper om nationalsocialismen som ideologi, Nazi-Tyskland som maktsystem och terrorregim, samt om Förintelsen – folkmordet på Europas judar. Genom utnyttjandet av ny litteratur inom dessa livaktiga forskningsfält ges också inblick i aktuella forskningsdiskussioner, bl. a. om regimens folkliga stöd samt om rasismens och antisemitismens roll för Förintelsen. Även Sverige och Förintelsen behandlas. Undervisningen består av en kombination av föreläsningar, lektioner och hemuppgifter.
