This course applies practically knowledge acquired in Astronomisk Observationsteknik I. Practice is made during one week at the Nordic Optical Telescope on the Spanish island La Palma. You will have to write a complete telescope time application as well as plan and execute the observations. The course gives you skills to use software packages used to control the telescope and to obtain and reduce the data.

Entry requirements

To enter this course knowledge corresponding to a Bachelor's degree in physics, or similar, is required. In addition, knowledge corresponding to the courses Observational Astrophysics I, 7,5 ECTS credits (AS7003), Astrophysical Spectra, 7,5 ECTS credits (AS7006) Stellar Structure and Evolution, 7.5 ECTS credits (AS7010)) is needed. Swedish upper secondary school course English 6 or equivalent.
