This second level course in quantum field theory is devoted to the special methods that are used to describe non-relativistic many body systems. These are of interest not only in condensed matter physics, but also in nuclear and atomic physics. We introduce concepts such as spontaneous symmetry breaking, quasi particles and Fermi liquids, and discuss phenomena such as superconductivity and Bose-Einstein condensation.
Knowledge corresponding to a Bachelor's degree in Physics as well as the course Quantum Field Theory, 15 HECs (FK8017). English equivalent to Swedish upper secondary school course English 6.
Each offering has its own dates and conditions. Closed offerings are retained as history and do not mean that a new application is open.
