Kursen behandlar grundläggande principer och metoder för statistisk inlärning, klassifikation och prediktion. Som en del härav studeras bland annat grunder i regressions- och diskriminantanalys, modellval och modellutvärdering, regularisering genom krympning och utjämning, trädbaserade metoder som bagging, random forest och boosting, samt vektoriella maskiner för klassificering och regression.

Entry requirements

To qualify for the course, knowledge equivalent to Probability theory II, 7,5 hp (MT5018), either Linear statistical models, 7,5 hp (MT5016) or Categorical Data Analysis, 7,5 hp (MT5019), and either Statistical computing, 7,5 hp (MT4007) or Programming techniques for mathematicians, 7,5 hp (DA2005) is required. English B/English 6 or the equivalent.
