The course is concerned with marine geomorphological processes that shape and produce characteristic landforms on the seafloor, and how these landforms indicate both modern seafloor dynamics and palaeo environments, ocean and climate conditions. You will learn about fundamental geomorphological concepts, erosion and deposition processes in marine environments, as well as how marine landforms can be mapped and investigated with marine geophysical methods. The course will explore the significance of sea level change, currents, and marine-terminating ice sheets and glaciers for the construction and distribution of different submarine landforms.
Access to the course requires knowledge equivalent to: Option 1: Geological sciences 15 credits (GG2010), Option 2: Natural Geography 15 credits (GE2021), Option 3: Tellus I - Geology 15 credits (GG2008), Tellus II - Geology 12\.5 credits (GG4039), Tellus III - Geology 2.5 credits (GG4043) or Tellus I - Natural Geography 15 credits (GE2020), Tellus II - Natural Geography 12.5 credits (GE4023) and Tellus III - Natural Geography 2.5Â credits (GE4024).
Each offering has its own dates and conditions. Closed offerings are retained as history and do not mean that a new application is open.
