Kursen ger en bred introduktion till Sveriges maritima förflutna, utifrån historiska, etnologiska och marinarkeologiska perspektiv. Svensk historia har sedan urminnes tider präglats av närheten till havet som transportmedel, som resurs men också som en krigszon. Kursens syfte är att belysa olika aspekter av detta långa förhållande och visa hur de format det moderna svenska samhället. Kursen ges av forskare och lärare knutna till Centrum för maritima studier
