Description and theory of nonlinear wave phenomena in physical systems. In particular generic derivations of the Korteweg de Vries equation and the nonlinear Schrödinger equation. Coupled systems and non-local effects, multiple time-scale techniques, variational methods and parametric processes.
Entry requirements
90 credits including Analytical Mechanics and Electrodynamics or equivalent. Proficiency in English and Swedish equivalent to the level required for basic eligibility for higher studies. Requirements for Swedish only apply if the course is held in Swedish.
