During the past decades the Anthropocene has become a concept describing how the human has changed the planet Earth to the extent that it has now entered a new geological epoch. The course aims to create understanding for how the concept of the Anthropocene can be understood within cultural and social scientific studies. The course explores everyday demarcations between nature and culture, and how cultural perceptions about humans' place in the world and their relation to other species are related to climate change. During the course, the student will develop skills to identify and analyze how climate change can be understood through specific cultural contexts.
