The course provides an introduction to Tove Jansson's novels about Moomindalen, which were published between 1945-1970. Through close studies of three novels, central ideas and themes in Jansson's writing are highlighted. The books about the Moomin world are studied from literary as well as psychological, philosophical and gender perspectives. The course also provides an introduction to some of the basic concepts of children's literature research.
