<p>This course introduces theoretical perspectives on the social meanings of audiovisual cultures in different periods and contexts. How to understand the social role of moving images in an increasingly digitized media world? The course explores and problematizes issues such as the camera’s democratic potential, the role of film in sub and fan cultures, as well as notions of media effects and audiences.</p>
