The course provides fundamental knowledge about the emergence of the modern economy. It begins with the industrialization processes of the 19th century and follows economic developments both globally and in Sweden up to the early 21st century. The course literature and lectures offer an overview of historical development from an economic perspective, while also analyzing historical events in relation to key concepts such as institutions, living standards, distribution and sustainable development.
