This Master’s programme explores how digitalisation is transforming communication, from interpersonal interactions and social media to organisational communication, news, politics and generative AI. You will develop advanced knowledge of communication theories and methods while engaging with pressing contemporary challenges, such as AI-generated content, credibility, inclusion and diversity. The programme combines critical perspectives with practical skills and introduces digital methods for studying communication, including large-scale text analysis, eye-tracking and biometric approaches. During the programme, you can tailor your studies through elective courses, an internship or an exchange semester. You will conclude your degree by conducting independent research in an area related to digital communication. Taught entirely in English and welcoming students from around the world, the programme offers an international learning environment and prepares you for both professional careers in communication and further academic research.

Entry requirements

A Bachelor's degree of 180 credits or corresponding, including an independent research work (e.g. thesis) of at least 15 credits or equivalent. Applicants must prove their knowledge of English: English 6/English B from Swedish Upper Secondary School or the equivalent level of an internationally recognised test, for example TOEFL, IELTS. ### Specific entry requirements for admission to a course within the study programme Within the study programme there can be specific entry requirements for admission to individual courses. These specific entry requirements are documented in each course syllabus and state which entry requirements are necessary to be registered on a course within the study programme. ### Selection Selection is according to the Higher Education Ordinance and the University of Gothenburg admission regulations for education on first and second cycle.
