The course builds on SO1205, Somali IV. The course further develops reading skills in Somali, as well as practical translation from Somali through the study of some 100 pages of authentic text, partly provided with comments, glossaries and sound recordings. The vocabulary is expanded to about 3000 words and phrases. Basic translation techniques and strategies are also treated briefly.

Entry requirements

At least 5 credits from SO1205 or the equivalent. An exception is made from the requirement of Swedish as a general entry requirement, when the language of instruction is English.
