The course deals with historical musicology as a scientific discipline, as well as an approach within other disciplines. Historical musicology is a scientific perspective that can be applied to all musical manifestations of all times, including our own. Traditionally, this perspective has been a cornerstone of musicology, with a variety of theoretical approaches and methodological instruments. This course studies a number of influential and central traditions, texts and theories in historical musicology, as well as their position and significance in a wider intellectual context.
A Bachelor's degree, equivalent to a Swedish Kandidatexamen, from an internationally recognised university. Proficiency in English equivalent to the general entry requirements for first-cycle (Bachelor's level) studies.
Each offering has its own dates and conditions. Closed offerings are retained as history and do not mean that a new application is open.
