Education facts

Code: TBI2M

Do you want to dive into the molecular mechanisms that govern life? The Master's Programme in Biology with a specialisation in cell and molecular biology gives you deep insights into how cells function, communicate, and reproduce. You explore subjects ranging from function to regulation of gene expression and molecular interactions in organelles – preparing you for research or work in biotechnology, pharma, or diagnostics. You tailor your study plan by choosing from a broad selection of advanced courses in subjects like structural biology, functional genomics and microbiology. Practical lab training, seminars and independent projects are an integrated part of your studies. The second year is mainly devoted to a degree project, which can be carried out within an academic research group or in collaboration with a company. The teaching is closely linked to current research and all teachers are active researchers with in-depth subject knowledge. You will develop analytical thinking, scientific communication and laboratory skills – competencies that are in demand in both academia and business. The programme has a clear international focus, with both students and teachers coming from a variety of different countries. Your final-year project will be carried out in close collaboration with industry or academia. This allows you to conduct your final-year project on a current topic. Communication training is integrated into all courses of the programme – something that is increasingly in demand in the workplace. Our graduates go on to careers as research engineers, consultants, or doctoral students in Sweden and internationally.
