In the Master's Programme in Languages, you choose to deepen your knowledge in one or more main areas of the wide domains taught at an advanced level within the Faculty of Languages at Uppsala University: Language, Linguistics, Literature and more. German is, for historical reasons, an important language in Europe, with great cultural and economic importance. In the Master's Programme in Languages, specialising in German, you build up an understanding of language and literature as expressions of culture, and the connection between these and society. You will learn what the language looked like during different periods, how it is used for different communicative purposes, how literature reflects cultural conditions, and how it is discussed.
_Academic requirements_ A Bachelor's degree, equivalent to a Swedish Kandidatexamen, from an internationally recognised university. The main field of study must be German. _Language requirements_ Proficiency in English equivalent to the Swedish upper secondary course English 6. This requirement can be met either by achieving the required score on an internationally recognised test, or by previous upper secondary or university studies in some countries. Detailed instructions on how to provide evidence of your English proficiency are available at [universityadmissions.se](https://www.universityadmissions.se/en/entry-requirements/english-language-requirements/).
Each offering has its own dates and conditions. Closed offerings are retained as history and do not mean that a new application is open.
