The method of characteristics and first-order partial differential equations. Distributions and Sobolev spaces, extensions and trace theorems. Sobolev inequalities and compactness theorems. Laplace equation. Heat equation. Wave equation. Applications of Sobolev spaces to PDEs. Existence and uniqueness of weak solutions to elliptic equations.
Entry requirements
120 credits including 90 credits in mathematics. Participation in Real Analysis. Participation in Integration Theory or read in parallel. Proficiency in English equivalent to the Swedish upper secondary course English 6.
