Drawing from your knowledge of the molecular machinery that governs gene expression and regulation, this course provides a deeper quantitative understanding of the physical principles that control regulation, speed, and accuracy in biological processes. You will learn to develop mathematical models for these processes. These skills are necessary for quantitatively linking biochemical reactions (molecular level) with physiology and population biology (cellular level) and are relevant for both basic research in molecular biology and practical industrial applications where cells are used as production tools. There are no scheduling conflicts between 1MB444 and 1MB449, and the courses are suitable to take at the same time.
Alternative 1: 120 credits within the Master's Programme in Molecular Biotechnology Engineering (300 credits) including Probability and Statistics, Chemical Thermodynamics and Cell Biology. Participation in Transform Methods and either Scientific Computing for Data Analysis or Scientific Computing II. Proficiency in English equivalent to the Swedish upper secondary course English 6. Alternative 2: 10 credits within the Master's programme in Biophysics (120 credits) including participation in Computer Programming I, Introduction to Statistics for Life Sciences, Introduction to Modern Physics and Computational Methods for Scientific Applications. Proficiency in English equivalent to the Swedish upper secondary course English 6. Alternative 3: 10 credits within the Master's programme in Biophysics (120 credits) including participation in Introduction to Biochemistry and Introduction to Molecular Biology. Proficiency in English equivalent to the Swedish upper secondary course English 6.
Each offering has its own dates and conditions. Closed offerings are retained as history and do not mean that a new application is open.
