The course gives a broad knowledge of fundamental chemical and physical principles operating in materials relevant to energy applications, such as solar cells, batteries, fuel cells, magnetic materials, hydrogen storage, etcetera. An overview of modern theoretical and experimental concepts and trends in energy-related materials research will be given and the close relationship between basic research and applications in this field will be discussed. The representation of energy-related research at Uppsala University and its interdisciplinary nature will be reviewed. The political and social impact of the development of environmentally friendly energy technologies on modern society will also be discussed.
120 credits with either Quantum Physics and Solid State Physics or Physical Chemistry and Solid State Chemistry or 30 credits materials science. Proficiency in English equivalent to the Swedish upper secondary course English 6.
Each offering has its own dates and conditions. Closed offerings are retained as history and do not mean that a new application is open.
