The course builds on previous courses in physical chemistry. It provides insights into quantum mechanical concepts and how these, qualitatively and quantitatively, can describe properties of the atoms in the periodic table. During the course, an introduction to approximate methods for computational chemistry and practice in using these methods in computer applications is given. The course also explains the relationship between molecular micro properties and bulk properties, and presents applications in business and society.
60 credits including 40 credits in chemistry and 20 credits in mathematics. Participation in Physical Chemistry I, 10 credits, and Principles of Thermodynamics, 5 credits.
Each offering has its own dates and conditions. Closed offerings are retained as history and do not mean that a new application is open.
