Activity-Based Chemistry

Students suggest a host workplace as they apply to the course. The host workplace and placement supervisor must be approved by the course examiner before the course starts. The course begins with a mandatory introduction period of one to two weeks at Karlstad University, including preparation for the practical placement. The practical placement comprises seven or eight weeks in a workplace, where students complete at least one independent task which requires them to apply their knowledge of chemistry. If applicable, a risk analysis is carried out in relation to a work task chosen in consultation with the placement supervisor and the examiner. The course is concluded with a week at Karlstad University, where students are responsible for conducting seminars. Throughout the course, students write a diary in which they describe and reflect upon what they have done and what has happened during the practical placement period.
