Administrative Law

The course consists of four parts: Part 1: Introduction to jurisprudence and the Swedish legal system As a prelude, the course introduces basics of jurisprudence, the construction of the legal system and basic legal method. The sources of law, its enforcement and legal problem solving techniques are introduced. Part 2: Introduction to the European legal system Subsequently, the course deals with the structure of the European legal system, its sources and how it affects the Swedish legal system. Fundamental issues such as the supremacy of EU law and the principle of proportionality are introduced. Even the ECHR will be mentioned. Part 3: Administrative law The main part of the course focuses on the fundamental rules of the general administrative procedures as well as laws governing Swedish municipalities. In this context, even the main features of selected parts of the special administrative law will be presented. Part 4: The principle of transparency The course finishes off with rules governing the transparency of public administration. Rules on privacy will be covered briefly.
