Advanced course in health economics evaluation

<p>The course covers advanced methods of economic evaluation in public health settings. The course will consists of three major parts:</p> <p>The first part of the course will go into detail on applications of economic evaluation and health outcomes analyses with individual-level data, and will cover the econometric and biostatistical models necessary for such evaluations. Topics include quality-adjusted survival analysis, analyzing skewed cost, effectiveness, and outcomes data, bootstrapping, etc.</p> <p>The second part of the course will cover decision analytic modeling, including topics such as decision trees, Markov models, deterministic and probabilistic models, value of information analyses. The second part of the course will also cover methods and topics related to health technology assessments (HTA) and the role of economic evaluation in HTA.</p> <p>The third part of the course will be to plan and design of a thesis proposal with a public health decision problem where an economic evaluation can answer the problem.</p> <p>Throughout the three parts in the course, perspectives from ethics, human rights and sustainability will be discussed when critically evaluating the use of economic evaluations as a tool for decision-making of public health policies.</p>
