Bachelor's Programme in Acting

The bachelor programme in acting is for you who wants to work professionally as an actor. After completion of the studies you will have knowledge and ability to work in an ensemble or on your own, and move between different genres, on screen and live, and different types of productions. The goal of the education is for you to learn the basics of acting, with a focus on your individual development for long-lasting, sustainable artistry. The education is characterized by a view on the actor as an independent creative artist, and has its main focus on stage acting and theatre, as our view is that this is the foundation of the actors' profession. The acting profession is about getting to the core of how other people think, feel and act in specific circumstances, and then consciously portraying those human characteristics using the body and the voice. In short, this is the idea of the body as the instrument which is a central concept in the acting education at SKH. Using your voice and body to act on stage for several hours each day can be demanding both physically and emotionally. Therefore, an important focus in the education is training where you develop an ability to make full use of your artistic expressions even in stressed situations. This focus on the individual development is combined with collaborative work in which cooperation, presence, and participation are in focus. At the end of the education you do not only have a deepened understanding of your own abilities, but also a solid knowledge of what it means to be a part of an ensemble with other artistic professions and professionals – and in acting in front of an audience. For the upcoming start of the programme, the education has been partly revised with a new structure and study plan, to further clarify the themes and central aspects of the programme, and to adapt to the new demands on the contemporary actor. The bachelor programme in acting at SKH has its roots in a long history of education for artistic performance on stage. With this rich tradition, and in dialogue with a constantly changing world, we educate the future actors! Please note that the main language of teaching is Swedish.
