Bioinformatics: Bioinformatics and Sequence Analysis

<p>BINP17</p><p>Bioinformatics, the application of computational methods to biological and biomedical problems, is a rapidly growing field. Modern biochemists and biologists need to have a basic knowledge of bioinformatics. This course provides both a practical and a theoretical overview of database searching, sequence alignment, phylogenetic analysis, gene prediction and genome analysis. BINP17 can be taken either on a stand-alone basis or as part of the Master Programme in Bioinformatics which includes the compulsory courses, BINP17, BINP16 Programming in Python, BIOS13 Modelling Biological Systems, BIOS14 Processing and Analysis of Biological Data, BINP28 and BINP29 DNA Sequencing Informatics I and II.</p>
