Cardiovascular Psychology

The course focuses on the role of psychosocial aspects in cardiovascular disease. During the course we go through the causes of, and measures against, mental illness after heart disease. Behavioural models for working with behaviour change during both primary and secondary prevention are described. Specialised heart disease diagnoses that require a specific approach are covered separately. Finally, inequity in cardiac care and rehabilitation is addressed based on factors such as gender, socioeconomics and severe psychiatric illness. The course is stand-alone, and can usually count as an elective course in the medical programme, physiotherapy programme, psychology programme or as a PhD-course. Communication between students and teachers takes place via these platforms. The course has two to three hours of synchronous lectures or seminars one to two times per week with mandatory attendance. In addition, there is a mandatory group work task including two group supervisions that are offered online. In addition, the course is examined by a written exam (online). To take the course, you will need a computer or equivalent with an internet connection, a webcam and a headset.
