Chemistry: Spectroscopy and Dynamics

<p>KEMB29. The course gives basic knowledge of physical chemistry in the field of spectroscopy and dynamics. The applications of the fields in natural sciences will be studied. The course includes laboratory part, which gives both experimental and theoretical experience in spectroscopy and dynamics.<br />  </p> <h3><strong>Course contents</strong></h3> <p>The course consists of two parts. The first part deals with various spectroscopic methods, which can be used to study molecular properties. The second part of the course provides basics in chemical dynamics. This includes introduction to the differential equations, which describe various chemical reactions. The molecular grounds for elementary chemical dynamics will be studied. As an example the Marcus theory of electron transfer and the Förster theory of excitation energy transfer will be presented and compared. The course contains both experimental and computer-based laboratory work.</p>
