Chinese in Speech and Writing I

The course comprises six parts that build on each other. The different parts, such as listening, speaking, reading and writing is integrated to a large extent with each other. The course includes speaking and listening exercises, where the students, through the use of text recordings, video clips, dictations, pronunciation exercises, and sentence pattern exercises within and outside the classroom, learn how to understand sentence-long statements, questions and commands in Chinese, and to respond in Chinese. In the course seminars, the students come into direct contact with a large number of Chinese characters, and in combination with written assignments the students build a solid foundation for reading and writing sentences and passages in Chinese. The students also practise how to write, in Chinese characters, most of what they can speak.
