Climate change history

<p>The ongoing climate change will affect societies around the world. This is not a new phenomenon, climate change has affected the development of societies in the past. The course provides an understanding of climate variability and focuses on the relationship between social change and climate from a historical perspective. </p> <p>The course offers a broad and varied content with a focus on climate change over the last 2000 years. You will learn about: </p> <ul> <li>past climate changes and variability and the mechanisms behind these</li> <li>societal impacts</li> <li>pre-industrial climate</li> <li>anthropogenic climate</li> <li>short-term climate and weather events (extremes) as well as longer period of climate change</li> <li>analyse how humans and societies have respond to, and coped with, climate change in the past</li> </ul> <p>The teaching consists of: </p> <ul> <li>lectures</li> <li>exercises</li> <li>seminars</li> <li>group project</li> </ul> <p>The course is part of the Bachelor’s Programme in Earth Sciences, the course is also offered as a freestanding course.</p>
