**About the education** <br> The Computer Engineering Program is a three-year program which includes both courses in programming and networking. Computer programming and software development are key skills needed to develop the IT systems of the future. Therefore, the education includes several courses that practices basic programming as well as more advanced subjects like object-oriented programming, algorithms, web technology, databases, and cloud services. Almost all systems today communicate over internet. This means that knowledge in network technology is important. These topics range from basic data communication between devices to advanced communication in global systems. One interesting networking application is Internet of Things. It is a term used to describe that our “things” are increasingly equipped with sensors and processors so that they can communicate with each other and with us. You'll find these basically everywhere in your everyday life as in mobiles, door locks and cars, and basically in all companies and organizations regardless of industry. Since we are connected most of the day and more and more things in our world communicate with each other, the threats and risks increase. This is where knowledge in Cyber Security becomes critical. This aims to increase security in information and communication systems, that is, to protect companies and organizations against theft of secret information, as well as our privacy. <br> <br> **Work Integrated Learning, AIL** <br> We are Sweden's leading university in AIL (Work Integrated Learning). With us, you get an academic degree and interface with your future working life already during the education, giving you a real boost to the dream job. Several of the courses are project courses where work is conducted as in a workplace with materials, laboratory work and guest lecturers from industry. Many of the teachers have worked or are working outside the university which provides important input during the education. You finish the education with a 15 hp degree project. Many students choose to perform their project by solving a problem in industry. The training uses materials from our Cisco Academy. Certified instructors supervise you in the practical laborations and you have access to the Nordic region's most well-equipped laboratory in internet technology and teachers with long experience and a high level of expertise in the field. <br> <br> **Work opportunities** <br> Working as a computer engineer is often varied and new technologies bring new challenges in a constantly changing digital world. It can be about developing future software for smart communication systems, digitalization and networking products, or to work with the implementation, service and maintenance of systems. There are many different types of jobs to choose from, for example, as a developer or as a project manager. As a computer engineer, you will work in creative and dynamic environments, both independently and in close collaboration with others. It may be at a consulting company or in the IT industry, but the greatest demand for skilled computer engineers can be found in other types of organizations, such as industry, commerce, banking or public sector. After the education, you are well prepared for a hot job market both in Sweden and internationally. <br> <br> **Study abroad** <br> If you would like international expercience, there are possibilities to spend the fifth semester abroad at some of our partner universities. This can give you a unique opportunity and give an extra edge in your CV. When you return you can count your studies abroad towards your education degree so that the total length of study is still three years.
