Corpus Linguistics in Modern Greek

<p>Unlock the power of digital language analysis. This course teaches you how to explore Modern Greek through real world text corpora, helping you discover patterns, track language change, and gain hands-on skills used in modern linguistic research.</p><p>This course is for you who have successfully completed 90 higher education credits in linguistics or literature, or the equivalent. The course is compulsory within the Master’s Programme in Languages and Linguistics (Modern Greek orientation) but may also be taken as an independent course. </p><p>This course introduces you to the fast-growing field of Corpus Linguistics and shows you how it can be used to explore Modern Greek. You learn how to work with digital collections of real texts, and how software tools help you find patterns in the way people actually write and speak. </p><p>You get both a clear understanding of the basic ideas behind corpus research and practical experience in using tools for searching, organizing, and annotating language data. You also explore what makes a good corpus, how corpora are built, and how different types of data can answer different research questions. </p><p>By the end of the course, you can use language corpora confidently and creatively to analyse Modern Greek language, literature, and history. You gain skills that let you discover how Greek works in real communication—and how digital methods open new doors for linguistic study.</p>
