3D creations are used more and more in digital productions. From a simple logo to a complex animation, 3D content provides new way to transmit information, communicates about a product or a brand, attract the eye of future customer for a venue, or create full length movies. In this course, students will get the basis of 3D design. The teaching is mainly based on a production perspective with students doing practical work. An basic understanding of the 3D softwares for 3D production is given. After the course, students will be able to handle the production of 3D graphic content for non-organic models. In addition, the course includes aspects of digital distribution, technical construction of image, and 3D rendering. The course provides knowledge and skills that are a good foundation for advanced 3D design courses and basic 3D work. Students will acquire theoretical knowledge about 3D graphic design and technical aspect about 3D workspace. In term of practical work, this course covers Autodesk Maya. During the course, students will work on one big project step by step in order to acquire the basics skills inherent to 3D design: Modelling (polygon and NURBS), Texturing, Animating, Lighting and Rendering.
