Economic Development and Green Transition

The term green transition lacks a precise definition but generally refers to the broad societal transformation required to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and mitigate global warming. This course examines the driving forces and conditions underpinning the green transition in Sweden and globally, from historical, economic, and technological perspectives. Emphasis is placed on major developments since the Industrial Revolution, with particular attention to the evolving roles of companies, markets, and political systems in shaping both past and contemporary responses to environmental challenges. **Outline for distance course:** This is an online course, primarily based on independent study. Correspondence with the teachers takes place via the course platform. There are no physical meetings. The course is assessed through written assignments.
