<p>How did the global economy evolve into what it is today? This course gives you the tools to understand long-term economic change, global inequality and the financial systems that shape our world - from the 1800s to the present.</p><p>The course Economic History: The Global Economy introduces you to economic history with a focus on global development. You will gain insight into how wealth, income and financial systems have changed over time and how these processes have affected different parts of the world. The course is open to anyone with basic eligibility and can be taken as a stand-alone course or as part of a bachelor’s programme. Teaching is conducted in English and offered online, allowing you to follow the course wherever you are. However, there is a mandatory written exam held on campus in Lund. </p><p>The course is particularly relevant if you want to understand the interplay between technological innovations, institutional changes, and long-term economic development.</p>
