Egyptology A

The course introduces the basics of the study of ancient Egypt. The first part of the course deals with 5,000 years of Egyptian history, from prehistory up until the country's annexation into the Roman Empire. The next module introduces the basic principles for interpreting Egyptian art, as well as the most important temple och grave monuments. The third module gives students an insight into Ancient Egyptian religion and religious practices, while the final module provides them with basic knowledge of Ancient Egyptian language and literature. **Outline for distance course:** The distance course is based on self-study and communication in the web-based teaching environment (Studium) and email. The teaching takes place mainly through study instructions, exercises and discussions via internet, as well as web-based lectures. Access to a computer and internet connection is required to follow the course.
