Electricity Production and Energy Storage - Overview

*This course is given as a package together with Electricity Production and Energy Storage - analysis, 4,5 ECTS.* The course covers steady state and dynamic performance for power production units and energy storage. This includes both traditional power production such as hydro power and nuclear power and more modern types of power production such as wind power and solar power. Important aspects covered are energy conversion, turbine and turbine control, generator systems with power electronics, collection grids, capability charts, transformers and requirements for connection for the different power production units. Further, available power and durability is addressed for the different production units. Finally, a review of different types of energy storages is included with principles for storage, charging and discharging, power and energy. Dynamic models are obtained for the most common types of energy storages to represent the dynamic performance seen from the grid. **Industry and academy** This course has been developed in collaboration with industry partners within the framework of one of our educational projects. The project aims to provide courses at advanced level to a mix of professionals and students to strengthen the Swedish industry's competitiveness.
