Environmental Science: Strategic Environmental- and Sustainability Work

<p>In this course, you will delve into how the environmental and sustainability strategic work works, with a focus on central social sectors, agriculture, forestry, energy, construction (houses, roads), water and sewage, green structure/nature conservation. You will learn who is responsible for what formally, but also what falls through the cracks and why. The course will also give you the opportunity to develop your skills in both evaluating and developing the environmental and sustainability strategic work using a combination of different methods and data.</p><p>The overall goal of the course is for the student to acquire knowledge and skills to understand and analyze how the Swedish strategic environmental and sustainability work is organized and implemented, how it can be developed as well as how this work affects Sweden's ability to achieve set environmental and sustainability goals on a national and international level.</p> <p>The course deals with the organization and implementation of strategic environmental and sustainability work at the local, regional, national and global level, as well as how the different levels are connected.</p> <p>The course consists of two sub-courses, one theoretical and one applied. The theoretical elements focus on acquiring scientific knowledge and practical experience about the strategic environment and the central components of sustainability work; organization, working methods, data/analysis, strategies and plans and<br /> innovation. The applied sub-course gives the opportunity to use the theoretical knowledge on concrete problems related to strategic environment and sustainability work.</p> <p>The applied part course is conducted in project form. In this project, students work in groups to analyze opportunities and challenges in a environmental and sustainability area. The project includes proposing development opportunities within one or more of the central components of the environment and sustainability area. Through this way of working, the students acquire knowledge of how they can apply different scientific perspectives (disciplinary/interdisciplinary) in the development of environmental and sustainability strategic work.</p>
