Film history, introductory course

The course gives a basic introduction to the history of the film until today. It also covers the aesthetic, social, economic and technical conditions and changes of the film media. We learn about the film's creation as narrative mass media, the classic Hollywood, national film movements after World War II and the newer film's aesthetics and conditions in a globalized film market. In addition, it is discussed how the film-historical heritage with DVDs, the Internet and festivals becomes part of the contemporary film culture. Practical exercises from a contemporary perspective - for example about the festival organization - are interspersed with lectures and seminars on film history. The course language is Swedish and you need to have passed Swedish on level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages to be eligable for admission.
