GIS: GIS and Climate Change

<p>The course highlights how climate changes will influence the society from many different perspectives. You get a broad foundation to further work within climate change and to climate change in different types of work with a focus on community planning and development.</p><p>The course "Geographic Information Systems and Climate Change" gives you an understanding of mechanisms that drive climate change and how these can be described and analysed using different computer models. You will also learn to analyse the consequences of climate change, such as rising sea levels, increased frequency of heavy rain and faster snowmelt with the help of GIS, and how GIS can be used to estimate the impact on the environment and society. Then you will also learn to use relevant tools to analyse how negative effects can be minimized and how to plan to reduce damage from extreme events such as floods and increased frequency of landslides.</p><p>http://www.nateko.lu.se/gisn32</p>
