Global Migration and Societal Change

<p>Migration shapes societies. In this course, you’ll explore how people move across borders—and how those movements affect economies, communities and global development, both historically and today.</p><p>Global Migration and Societal Change gives you the tools to understand why people migrate, how migration patterns evolve and what consequences follow—for individuals, families and societies. You’ll study both historical and contemporary migration, with a focus on economic, demographic and social dimensions.</p><p>The course covers four key areas:</p><ol><li>Historical migration - how global migration has changed over time.</li><li>South-North migration - movements from developing to industrialised countries, and the challenges of integration.</li><li>South-South migration - migration within and between developing countries, and its impact on origin and destination regions.</li><li>Methods and data - how to analyse migration using real-world statistics and research tools.</li></ol><p>You’ll also reflect on migration and integration policies, and how they shape outcomes for migrants and host societies. Whether you’re interested in development, policy or social change, this course helps you understand one of the most important forces shaping our world.<br/></p>
