Human-Computer Interaction

Human-computer interaction is the study of the interaction between users and computers. The course describes theories of cognitive psychology and how knowledge of human capabilities can influence the way in which we construct technical systems. Interaction between users and computers occurs at the user interface, which includes both software and hardware, for example, general-purpose computer peripherals and large-scale mechanical systems, such as aircraft and power plants. The course presents methods for analysing users, work tasks and technical systems. Different methods of measuring usability are examined. **Outline for distance course:** The distance course is a web-based course, completely without physical meetings (including the examination). The course is based on self-studies of literature, individual work and a home exam. Reading instructions and other communication is handled through the course home page and email. Internet access is a requirement for this course. The teaching language in this course is English, which is required for all the individual work. The home exam may be written in Swedish. Contact with the teacher can be made in Swedish.
