Översikt
This course deals with the relation between international migration and migration policy and economic structure and performance in Europe and North America in the post-war period. It addresses important issues concerning the need of labour mobility, the common agreement on refugees’ right to asylum and the fact that immigrants are subject to social exclusion in many Western countries. Focus is on the causes and context of various migration waves, the economic effects of immigration on the host countries, and the socioeconomic careers of immigrants. Economic theories of migration and integration are studied in combination with quantitative methods and empirical studies of different regions and time periods.

A Bachelor's degree (180 hec) from an internationally recognized university, including a thesis of minimum 15 hec. Applicants must prove their knowledge of English: English 6/English B from Swedish Upper Secondary School or the equivalent level of an internationally recognized test, for example TOEFL, IELTS.
